Lane closure on I-20 eastbound in Lexington County between US-1 and Mineral Springs Road

December 9, 2016

The outside lane of Interstate 20 Eastbound between US-1 and Mineral Springs Road will be closed at approximately 2:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, for emergency road work.

The lane closure is estimated to remain in effect until Saturday, Dec. 10.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) advises motorists to expect congestion and to use caution in the work zone. Traffic conditions can be monitored at SCDOT’s Traveler Information System www.511sc.org.

Thursday night, Dec. 8, traffic was shifted on this portion of I-20 as part of the I-20 Design Build Project.  The shift included placing the outside lane traffic on a portion of the existing shoulder. Shortly after the traffic shift, the pavement at mile marker 59 began to deteriorate, requiring the contractor to close the outside lane. The lane closure will remain in place until the original lane configuration can be restored by placing new pavement markings.
